In and around the fascinating and historic city of Stirling, there's a wealth of activities to enjoy on real working farms, all within a short distance, including children's activities, tours, swimming and some delicious food and drink experiences. 

4 Miles: Briarlands Farm, Stirling

There’s loads to do and to keep your wee ones entertained at Briarlands, from jumping pillows to football golf; tractor and trailer rides to archery. They also have sessions for guinea pig and rabbit petting and you can feed available some of the other farm animals around the Farm Park (feed available for purchase).

Briarlands has a cafe serving light lunches, coffees and delicious home-baking, all made on the premises, and small indoor play frame suitable for children up to age 7.

8 Miles: Argaty Kites, Doune

Argaty Red Kites is Central Scotland’s only visitor centre where red kites, a spectacular bird of prey, are fed daily. Excellent viewing and photographic facilities for kites, red squirrels and woodland wildlife. 

There are four main hides:

You can choose from one of the Woodland Hides for the morning and then one of the Red Kite Hides for the afternoon. Alternatively, Argaty now also has a 'Lunchtime with the Woodland Creatures' hide, for those wishing to arrive around noon, spending an hour or so with the woodland birds and the red squirrels before joining for the red kite feeding time.

9 Miles: Muircot Farm Shop, Tillicoultry

Muircot is a small, family run dairy farm which has been farmed over the last ninety years by four generations of the Wilson family.  The Farm shop was established in 2012 borne out of a genuine passion for good wholesome food.

This is an ideal location for a delicious lunch or coffee and cake whilst enjoying stunning views over the Ochil Hills.  Their bakers produce a delicious range of home baking using the highest quality ingredients.

At Muircot they are passionate about local producers - from beekeepers to artists - and their shop offers a selection of the best local product and gifts.

11 Miles: Arnprior Farm, Stirling

Established by the McEwen family in 1936, the family farms 800-acres of land in Arnprior, Stirlingshire, alongside a range of on farm activities including lambing experiences in Spring and a famous pumpkin festival in the Autumn.

Arnprior Farm is also now home to Scotland’s only eco-friendly and luxury glamping pod campsite complete with a bespoke private indoor swimming pool.

Arnprior is surrounded by the beauty and calm of the hills of Stirlingshire and close to Stirling for day trips and sightseeing.

11 Miles: Braco Show

23rd July 2022

A great day out for all the family at this small agricultural show held on the 4th Saturday in July each year.

Come along to see the heavy horses, cows, sheep and goats along with lots of other activities.

22 Miles: Great Time Scotland, Aberfoyle

Three generations of the Wood family currently live and work at Ledard and they have great passion in hosting at their unique historical venue the Scottish way! Their 300 acre working hill farm is on the shores of Loch Ard near Aberfoyle in the Trossachs.  

The farm provides an exclusive venue for clay pigeon shooting, archery, sheep dog demonstrations, Scottish historical presentations and traditional music entertainment. You can even do sheep cuddling!

Farm tours are run on a Tuesday and Thursday at 2.00 pm or by arrangement.

26 Miles: Edenmill Farm and Cafe, Blanefield

Edenmill Café, Soft Play and Butcher Shop is a family run business nestled in rolling landscape between the Campsies and Loch Lomond.

You can explore the beautiful Scottish countryside around the farm on an Edenmill experience and there is fun for all the family with activities available for all age groups including alpaca trekking.  

Stop in at the cafe for some healthy, hearty and home-made food and pick up some quality meat at the Edenmill butcher who works with local farmers and producers to bring customers the very best in Scottish produce.
