Moray Speyside is a relatively small region tucked between the Highlands and Aberdeenshire in the northeast of Scotland. Famous for being ‘the malt whisky capital of the world’, thousands of people from around the globe come just to sample the famous Speyside single malts. But there's more to this region than just whisky!
Moray Speyside has a strong farming heritage thanks to its fertile soil and rolling landscapes. Many of the farms in this region are closely linked with the whisky industry, growing barley that will soon be malted and turned into the famous drink. Moray Speyside is also known for producing high-quality meats and being the birthplace of some famous foods and producers, including Cullen Skink, the digestive biscuit, Baxter's Soup, and Walker’s Shortbread. Incredibly, it’s said that Moray Speyside alone produces around a third of Scotland’s food and drink!
Due to its central location, Stirlingshire is a great base for a family holiday or weekend trip away. There are many options on your doorstep and enough activities to keep everyone entertained.
The parts of Stirlingshire which lie within the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park are traditionally home to hill sheep and beef cattle farms, as the land here is mountainous and mostly unsuitable for crop production. Several farm tour options are available where you’ll be taken out into the field to meet and learn more about the animals while enjoying the lovely surrounding scenery. Wildlife watching is also great in Stirlingshire, with a highlight being spotting Red Kites!
There are various accommodation options to choose from, including luxury glamping pods and traditional farmhouses.
