Spring is here, and across Scotland, farms are welcoming new life, especially lambs. Lambing season can be busy, with farmers working around the clock to care for the ewes and their lambs. It's a rewarding time, and some farms open their doors for visitors to experience the action firsthand. Whether you want to cuddle a lamb or learn about farm life, there’s something for everyone.

Here are some of our top bookable lambing experiences in Scotland for 2025.

Lennox of Lomond is back with its popular ‘Lambing on Loch Lomond’ experiences, offering hands-on sessions to learn about lambing on a real working farm. Options include full-day sessions with a three-course farmhouse lunch, as well as half-day, evening, and weekend sessions - all providing the chance to get up close with newborn lambs.

There’s so much going on at Newton Farm Holidays this lambing season to make 2025 extra special. Lambing experiences at The Wee Farm Distillery offer visitors the chance to step inside a real working lambing shed. Guests can choose between group sessions or private family & friends experiences, where they can meet the ewes and lambs, enjoy lamb interactions, and possibly witness a live birth. Down on the Farm, Aberdeenshire

Meet farmer Tally in the lambing shed, where you'll watch and learn about sheep husbandry, witness lambs taking their first steps and drinking from their mothers, and even help bed, feed, and care for the pet lambs. There will be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and take photos with the very cute and friendly lambs.

Join Down on the Farm in the lambing shed for an educational lambing experience with their flock of Dorset Horn sheep. Celebrate new life, make memories, and you might even be lucky enough to witness a lamb being born or help bottle-feed one. Kilmacolm Farm Tours offers a behind-the-scenes look at Scotch lamb production with the MacDougall family. Visitors can feed and interact with the lambs, learn about sheep husbandry, and possibly witness a live birth. Meet the farm’s working sheepdogs and chat with farmers James and Wendy to discover hardships of lambing season.

8. The Old Manse Farm, Loch Lomond

Join farmer Sheila on the banks of Loch Lomond to learn about her flock of sheep and cows and see the newborn lambs and calves. There will be an opportunity to meet the sheep and lambs in the lambing shed, learn about the role of the shepherd at this time of year, and visit the calving shed to see the adorable newborn calves.

Arnprior Farm, Stirlingshire

Visit Arnprior Farm during the busy lambing season, where over 1,300 expectant ewes are ready to give birth. Get a hands-on experience of farm life, learn about sheep care, feed the sheep, and, if lucky, witness a birth. The experience ends with cuddling lambs and plenty of photo opportunities.
